Well... since I'm awake and I can't seem to stay away from my laptop....
I've been thinking about my summer reading list. Now that the semester is over and I've passed my stats class (not w/flying colors)... I now can do leisurely reading without feeling guilty for never reading for school.
Here is my list. Some I've started and would like to actually finish and some I've had on my list for a very very long time.
1.) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Stieg Larsson)- I'm a little more than halfway through. It was tough getting through the first hundred pages because it was so slow.
2.) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S. Thompson) - I can't believe I haven't read this book or come across this book during all my years of study as a journalism student. I'm disappointed my professors did not make us read this book. I finally bought a copy today.
3.) Let the Great World Spin (Colin McCann) - A newer book I heard good things about.
4.) A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (Betty Smith) - A classic that I have always wanted to read. I'm going to do my best to read it this summer.
5.) Cat's Cradle (Kurt Vonnegut) - I read about one chapter and it's strange, but brilliantly funny. I often find that people who like Vonnegut are HUGE fans of Vonnegut.
It's a short list. I'm open to suggestions and will hopefully add more.
I noticed our BC book is suspiciously absent from this list. Maybe you can make one of these books a BC pick.
ReplyDeleteI thought the first 300 pages of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were slow! I still have 230 pages to go before my club meeting on Friday. I will try to think of some other suggestions for you!
